Targangal / Mt Kosciuszko 2,228 m The Monaro Bilgalera / Eden

Places along the way

From the highest point of the continent to the sea.

A pathway walked for thousands of years. Along the Bundian Way, peoples of the high country and the coast travelled between the summer bogong moth gatherings in the Alps and the whale seasons of Twofold Bay, trading, teaching and keeping kinship alive across the Monaro. Audio storytelling meets you at every place, and QR coded signage connects the physical trail to the living register.

History and First Nations stories

The oldest kind of Australian journey, told by its custodians.

The Bundian Way joins the highest point of the continent to the sea. For thousands of years, peoples of the high country and the coast travelled it between the summer bogong moth gatherings in the Alps and the whale seasons of Twofold Bay, trading, teaching and keeping kinship alive across the Monaro.

National registration carries its story, told by its custodians, to every Australian, honoured under First Nations custodianship at national scale.

Stories connected to Country are told only with, and as guided by, their custodians, under the First Nations custodianship protocols at the centre of the register’s governance.
